Common Questions and Comments

"Do children with the sniffles need to stay home? If so, how long should they stay home for?"
-Benny

Children with common colds do not need to stay home. Usually a child has already exposed others before presenting symptoms. Refer to your local health department to get a list of contagious and non-contagious illnesses. Excluding or isolating children with non-contagious, mild illnesses can be a hardship on the family and child.

"The preschoolers in my class are always getting sick! How can I cut down on these germs from spreading?"
-Letitia

Children are at greater risk for communicable illnesses, and by following best practice standards for providing a healthy and safe environment, you will be cutting down on the spread of germs. Revisit the training for more specific information in cutting down the spread of germs.
